Fashion inspired by – Lucy in Across the Universe

Where do you get your fashion inspiration from? For me it’s often from catalogues of my favorite stores, or some of my favorite movies. For fall, I would like to start a new type of post- Fashion Inspirations. In the first post, I’d like to do a character from a movie: Lucy from Across the Universe. 60′s stylized pieces are easily found in stores right now (Banana Republic is even doing a “Mad Men” themed collection right now).

Lucy is the main female character in the Beatles inspired musical Across the Universe (2007). Her style evolves from preppy to bohemian as her character evolves throughout the film. Watch the movie to get inspired yourself!

My favorite outfit is the one at the end of the film – a perfect ’60s style.

Here’s some pieces inspired by the look:

A comfy tee. Easy, adorable (Nordstrom).

An awesome cardi. Perfect for fall days (J.Crew).

A statement belt. This one is similar to the one worn in the movie, but I think the more it shows your personality, the better! (Anthropologie)

Most importantly, the piece that makes this look 60′s sweet is a nice pair of high-rise flair jeans. I have a great pair from the Gap from a few years back, but these also happen to be all over the stores right now (Madewell).

Time is something we all wish we had more of. While we feel as if it often slips away from us, gets the best of us, or goes to0 slow- time is valuable. So take some time for yourself because we all deserve it!

Yummy Outfits

So, procrastinating as per usual has lead me to a delightful find- Yummy Inspirational outfits at Anthropologie! Enjoy!

The reason I find this so exciting is that we often find ourselves looking at the anthropologie outfits as a muse to our fashion instincts (I think I can speak for both of us when I say this). What I really like about this new set of outfits is the fact that you can see actual people moving around (its a video) in the outfits which makes them seem more real; even if the “bike outfit” shows a lady in 5″ heels!
